Installation Information
This is a major internal engine repair kit. Professional installation is strongly recommended. The engine should be inspected carefully before installation to determine the cause of the original camshaft or lifter failure. Before assembling the engine, inspect the cylinder heads, rocker arms, pushrods, camshaft bearings, crankshaft, oil passages, oil control valve, MDS solenoids, and oil pan for metal contamination or additional damage.Recommended Installation Procedures
- Clean all oil passages and internal engine surfaces thoroughly.
- Remove all metallic debris from the cylinder block, cylinder heads, oil pan, and lubrication system.
- Inspect pushrods and rocker arms for wear, bending, or restricted oil flow.
- Prime the new oil pump and engine lubrication system before initial startup.
- Use the correct assembly lubricant on the camshaft, lifters, and related components.
- Follow the proper cylinder head bolt tightening sequence and torque procedure.
- Follow all factory timing alignment and VVT installation procedures.
- Replace contaminated oil filters and perform an early oil and filter change after startup.

Retains Factory MDS Operation
This kit is configured for 5.7L HEMI engines retaining the factory Multi-Displacement System. Unlike a Non-MDS conversion kit, it uses an MDS-compatible camshaft and lifter combination intended to preserve factory cylinder-deactivation operation.
Complete Valvetrain, Timing and Oil-System Refresh
Replacing the camshaft and lifters together with the timing components and oil pump helps address multiple wear areas during one repair. The included gasket and head-bolt components also support complete top-end disassembly and reassembly.
Installation Recommendations
- Confirm that the engine is factory equipped with MDS and VVT before installation.
- Inspect the pushrods, rocker arms, valve springs, cam phaser, timing guides, and oil passages during disassembly.
- Thoroughly clean the engine and oil passages after any camshaft or lifter failure.
- Lubricate the camshaft and lifters with an appropriate engine assembly lubricant.
- Prime the replacement oil pump before initial startup.
- Install the cylinder head bolts using the factory tightening sequence and torque-angle procedure.
- Verify camshaft and crankshaft timing before rotating or starting the engine.
- Replace the engine oil and filter after installation.
